Koike Aronson Celebrates its 100 Year Anniversary

You may have passed the big factory on Main Street and wondered what exactly Koike Aronson does. If so, you’re not alone. In fact, many people have been passing the plant for years without knowing exactly what goes on within those walls.

Koike Aronson Inc., headquartered here in Arcade, designs and manufactures one of the world’s broadest lines of fabrication equipment, from welding positioners and thermal cutting products to portable and gas apparatus. Since 1918, Koike has been serving welders around the world with innovative, reliable fabrication products.

But how did it all start? And why Arcade?

Aronson Machine Company was founded by Chuck Aronson in 1946, with a mission to provide revolutionary positioning equipment that allow a fabricator to safely place weldments in the most advantageous position for welding. A Midwesterner by birth, Chuck sent his wife out to Delevan, NY to scout out locations for his new business, but financing fell through. Eventually, a piece of property in Arcade – just across the railroad tracks from the current location – was selected.

Aronson Machine Company became known for its innovative welding positioners and filed numerous patents for their designs. As demand grew, so did the business, so a new manufacturing site on Main Street was selected. With a loyal following of customers and a worldwide reputation for its positioners, Aronson Machine Company was first purchased by Airco in 1969 and then by Koike in 1985. Henceforth known as Koike Aronson, the combined force of these industry pioneers is responsible for some of the best cutting, welding and positioning products in the industry.

Now celebrating a century of progress, Koike Aronson continues to be a leader in the manufacture of advanced cutting machines, welding positioning equipment, portable cutting/welding machines, and gas apparatus. A 100th anniversary was held at Koike Sanso Kogyo worldwide headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, where several of Koike Aronson’s leadership staff joined in the festivities.

From humble beginnings, Koike Aronson now serves steel service centers, heavy equipment, general fabrication, energy, shipbuilding, pipe & vessel, transportation, education, construction, tank fabrication, repair and maintenance, and other industries around the globe. Perhaps most remarkable, though, is that descendants of both the Koike and Aronson families still remain involved in day-to-day operations.
